We woke up and decided to walk to the Kahuku Farm since we had passed it a number of times and wanted to try the fruit. When we were on the bus it didn't look too far from Turtle Bay so we set out around 11 am or so and soon found that it was extremely hot. The walk wouldn't have been bad if we weren't in the heat of the day. Anyhow, it turned out to be a nice walk and the market was amazing! It was so cool to see all of the fresh fruits and vegetables in their brilliant colors and delicious flavors. We couldn't resist! We kept getting sucked into buying one thing after the next. Tahna bought a fresh coconut and the sweet little Hawaiian lady cut it open and gave us four straws. We each tried a sip of the juice inside which was decent, but not my favorite taste. We then wandered around and found bananas fried in this delicious shell, rice inside of this seaweed stuff that had been soaked in coconut milk (which tasted alright), and this pumpkin stuff that was in some seaweed stuff (which tasted terrible!). We also bought pineapple, guava, and mango which were all so delicious! We are definitely planning to go back there! It was amazing to see all of the colors and different kinds of fruits. Guava was a new experience for me. I bit into is and my first reaction was that the flavor was amazing, then I chewed and started crunching through all of the seeds inside which made it a little less desirable than I had anticipated. All in all, it was pretty good and without the seeds it would be so amazing! Our market experience definitely made me feel like I was in Hawaii because those beautiful fruits and vegetables are what I've always pictured to be a part of Hawaii. We loved it!
After we got back from out market trip, we watched a couple episodes of Gilmore Girls and then decided to go to the beach. We got ready, got on the bus, and headed for Ted's Bakery which was something we've wanted to try since we got here. We walked in and I was very eager to try dobashe cake (or however it's spelled) because my boss Cindy had said that it's really good. I was disappointed to not see it on the menu so I resorted to a brownie in hopes that we would find it at another bakery sometime. The food was good, but not like we had anticipated so we're going to have to find another bakery that will meet our expectations:) We took off from the bakery and walked to Sunset Beach which is so beautiful! We set up camp and got right into the water. We swam and caught some waves and then the sun started going down and we were getting cold so we decided to get out. It was amazing there though! The water was crystal clear and the surroundings were beautiful! We headed back to the condo where we showered, made dinner, and watched a movie. It was a great day in Hawaii!
